Regenerative is not organic

Regenerative agriculture...

I know we throw those words around a lot so I thought it might be helpful to explain...what does it actually mean when we say we practice regenerative farming?

Why does it matter to you whether your food is organic or regenerative, aren't they essentially the same?

Because of the organic movement, more farmers are focusing on sustainability now than ever before, but regenerative farming takes sustainability a bit further.

With climate change accelerating and pollution causing enormous damage, regenerative agriculture focuses on 3 things.

- Regenerating life.

Instead of simply refraining from doing harm, regenerative agriculture demands that farming work to restore and repair damage already done by years of exploitive practices.

- Mimicking nature.

Nature exists in systems. Diverse animals, plants and microbes living together while filling and complementing one another’s needs. We’re seeking to do the same. It's not the norm and it's maybe a little weird, but grazing multiple species of animals promotes diverse pasture and forest growth and improves our farm’s overall health.

- Respecting everyone.

We’re all interconnected. Instead of dominating to create success, we are respecting the unique needs of our animals while working to improve local communities, support the health of our customers, care for the land we are stewarding and provide a sustainable living for our family.

Regenerative food is food that’s not just better for you, it’s better for everyone around you.

See you at the market!
