Don’t walk on eggshells…describe them
Don't walk on eggshells this Easter
Describe them...
Family conversations are feeling especially loaded with incendiary and volatile fuel this year, so arrive prepared to your family dinner.
Simply deploy the following tactic in the middle of Grandpa's political tirade to instantly save everyone from exasperation.
Step 1:
Start with a shocking statement. Choose the sentence most appropriate for your family...
- "Chickens poop and lay eggs out of the same hole; the cloaca (clo-ache-a)!"
- "Did you know green eggs are just blue eggs with a brown top coat?"
- "You know brown eggs actually aren't any healthier than white ones!"
Step 2:
Enthrall and distract them with your vast egg knowledge.
Here are some quick facts and diagrams to help you along.
Eggshell color is determined by the genetics of each individual chicken and is only minimally impacted by diet and lifestyle.
Every egg starts out white then becomes a different shade as the shell is deposited (along with various pigments) over a roughly 20 hour process.
The pigments a hen can produce are determined by her genetics.
Depending on breed, a chickens eggs can be dark brown, brown, green, blue, rose or white.
Be sure to use technical jargon and diagrams to increase your family's amazement and interest.
Once the conversation has been successfully diverted, move on to the final phase...
Step 3:
Introduce an otherworldly dessert.
Full mouths can't argue and good food has the ability to make everyone more agreeable. My mom's angel food cake is delectable AND made out of eggs making it the perfect transition for this phase.
You can find the recipe here!
Good luck and happy Easter!
